How this is put together.

Twenty specialist desks, one register, and a set of rules that decide what gets filed. This page states the rules and names every source the readings come from.

The readings in the ribbon

The ribbon under the masthead is fetched by a scheduled worker and refreshed every ten minutes. A snapshot of the last successful fetch is written into the page itself, so the figures are readable before the worker answers and with JavaScript switched off. Every reading carries the time it was taken.

CoinPaprika
Prices, market capitalisation, bitcoin dominance.
DefiLlama
Stablecoin supply and Layer-2 DeFi total value locked.
CISA KEV
The Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalogue: total entries, and additions over the last 7 and 30 days.
ransomware.live
Ransomware victim listings, counted over 24 hours. The feed returns only the hundred most recent entries, so a longer window would undercount rather than overcount.
Hugging Face
Model download counts over 30 days.

When a fetch fails the previous snapshot stays and the build says so. A stale figure presented as current is worse than an old one labelled with its age.

What gets filed

48 hours
A story is eligible for a round only if its original was published within 48 hours. The window does not stretch to fill a desk. Where nothing qualified, the desk publishes nothing and the round says which desks stayed empty.
Dated from the feed
Publication time is taken from the source's own feed, converted to UTC. Where a feed gives a date without a time it counts as 00:00, against our own interest. A source with no verifiable date is not used.
Retold, not reprinted
Every summary is written in our own words and links back to the original. Figures are quoted as the source gives them — not rounded, not recalculated, not filled in. Quotations appear only where the source carries them and names who said them.
Nothing invented
No made-up figures, quotations, forecasts or placeholder records. Where a count does not exist, no count is shown. Every number on the front page is either taken from a named source or computed from the register.
Blocked sources
Some publishers refuse automated requests. That is their decision and we do not work around it: such a source is read by eye or not used at all.

The freshness mark

A green mark beside an item means its original was published within the last 48 hours. The mark always carries the date, so it can be read even after the window has closed, and it is removed on the reader's own clock rather than left standing on a static page. The colour is never the only carrier of meaning: the word and the date sit beside it.

Images

We do not generate images. Only existing work that is licensed for reuse is published: public-domain material from government agencies, Creative Commons figures from the research being reported, and freely licensed files. Author, licence and a link to the source file appear under every image, and a cropped file says so. Where nothing suitable is licensed, the article runs without a picture rather than with a decorative one.

Money, and where it touches the work

Some placements on this network are referral links, and we are paid when a reader signs up through one. Every such link is marked as sponsored in the markup and carries a disclosure line where it appears — not in a policy page nobody opens, but under the placement itself.

The rule that does not move: a paid relationship cannot buy a figure. Where we recommend something we run it ourselves and publish what it produced, in the units the operator reports, with no conversion into money we cannot verify. Any page promising a guaranteed return is promising something nobody in this category can know, and it will not be this one.

Issue numbering

The volume is the year minus 2025, so 2026 is Vol. 01. The issue number is the count of publishing rounds that have actually shipped content — it is computed, never typed in, and a rebuild that changes only layout does not advance it. This is issue BB/2026/13, published 26 September 2026.
